Local MP launches consultation about rising crime

Steve McCabe MP says it’s a bit ironic that a constituency wide consultation he’s launching to gather views about rising crime, how it affects his constituents and their families and what should be done it, should coincide with his own recent encounter with two thugs who struck him in the face with a brick.

The Government is allowing women to be cheated out of IVF treatment

Steve McCabe MP says we must have equality on the provision of IVF services across England as three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) plan to restrict treatment to women under the age of 35 and the Department of Health and NHS England release contradictory statements in response to the latest figures on fertility treatment.

I recently visited Chinnbrook Beach Bonanza to see for myself the wonderful and tireless work of the staff at Chinnbrook Family and Community Project.Catering for wee nippers’ right through to the age of 8, it certainly was a busy afternoon! The centre offers individual support to families whose children have special needs or disabilities, support groups, day trips and social activities for parents.Staff and volunteers are the lifeblood of the local community. A very enjoyable project indeed.

On Thursday 2nd September I invited members of my constituency to a listening panel on the future of local policing. All sorts of people from across the constituency attended and we discussed many different issues, such as elected police commissioners and concerns people had with the cuts the police could be facing.

I recently visited the Rathbone Garden Centre which is an excellent charitable service in Selly Oak that helps people gain necessary skills to help them in the workplace. Rathbone in itself is one of the largest charities in Birmingham and celebrated its 25th birthday over the summer. This garden centre prides itself on its ability to improve people’s lives and over half of the plants on sale are grown by the learners themselves.
