‘Response from Education Minister on school funding ignores looming crisis’ says Steve McCabe MP

Earlier this week I hosted a reception yesterday with leading Indian businessmen in the House of Commons. The Chairmen of some of India’s largest companies were present including Ashok Lowland and Hindustan Motors. India is reportedly the second largest source of inward investment into the UK and over 600 Indian companies have a base here. In 2008/9 over 4,000 jobs were created in the UK as a result of Indian inward investment.

The reception was to show support to vulnerable children, young people and their families in Birmingham. At the ‘The Smart Money’ event I saw first-hand not only how effective early intervention services are in tackling deep rooted problems such as deprivation and neglect before they spiral out of control but also the economic benefits they bring to the public purse.

I spoke in the debate on the Queen's speech on Monday. Here is a copy of what I said about Victims' Rights, ID cards, police reform, the DNA database and CCTV.What plans does the coalition have to ensure that the needs of that group are put at the centre of our criminal justice system? It is the lack of consideration for victims that causes some people to think that the system is broken and many to believe that it is weighted entirely in favour of the offender.
