WATCH: MP tells House of Commons government has betrayed constituents

Local MP Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) today blasted the Education Secretary in the House of Commons over her refusal to meet to discuss the future of Baverstock Academy.

Steve McCabe MP, a member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, was joined by a cross party group of MPs at the University of Birmingham to hear evidence from Birmingham academics and other witnesses on welfare reform and citizens income. It is part of a programme to get the committee 'on the road' and out of the closed confines of Westminster.

Parliament returned on Monday to hear the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt’s, Ministerial Statement on the performance of the NHS. What did we learn? The Government are continuing to bury their heads in the sand by refusing to admit the #NHSCrisis that is affecting patients across the country, including those in our very own Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) has hit out against the Government’s decision to re-open the consultation into the closure of Baverstock Academy, despite repeated assurances that the Department for Education were looking for a sponsor to save the school.

Information emerged this morning that the Government is now planning to re-open a 4 week consultation period into closing the school.
