WATCH: MP tells House of Commons government has betrayed constituents

Local MP Steve McCabe MP (Birmingham Selly Oak) today blasted the Education Secretary in the House of Commons over her refusal to meet to discuss the future of Baverstock Academy.

Steve McCabe MP was thrilled to present Madison Poolton, winner of his Parliamentary Christmas card competition with a family ticket to watch the rags to riches tale of Dick Whittington at the Hippodrome.

Steve runs an annual Christmas card competition with local schools and once again was faced with the difficult task of picking a winner out of hundreds of creative and imaginative designs from pupils across Selly Oak constituency.

Steve has been working with the Save Baverstock Group, made up of parents and local residents, to fight for the school’s future. Together they have collected over 1,500 signatures all calling for the Government to save the school.

Steve McCabe called for the debate after being contacted by constituents who have had distressing experiences trying to get fertility treatment through the NHS.

In the last year, three clinical commissioning groups (South Norfolk, Mid-Essex CCG and North East)have already decommissioned their assisted conception services as a cost saving measure and now a further twenty-six are either considering reducing provision or decommissioning their assisted conception services entirely.
