The Government has recommended that local authorities consider 20mph speed limits in cities based on evidence that they make roads safer and reduce the number and severity of accidents.

Tony Hall, the Director-General of the BBC has outlined the first phase of plans to increase the BBC’s activity in Birmingham and bring new business to the Mailbox Headquarters. Plans include making Birmingham a new front to the BBC for digital innovation, particularly in arts and drama, and skills and talent and development.


Steve McCabe MP is contacting local businesses in his constituency to get their views on HS2 to inform his work in Parliament.

In the past few weeks HS2 has featured high on the political agenda. The pros and cons of the high-speed rail project have been discussed at length in Parliament which is why Steve is keen to hear what local businesses in his constituency and Birmingham have to say on the project.

 Steve McCabe is backing a pledge to improve patient access to medical technology.


The pledge is being organised by the Medical Technology Group, a coalition of patient groups, research charities and medical device manufacturers, which is committed to increasing patient access to high quality, life-improving medical technologies to all who need it.


Steve McCabe MP will be out talking to people in his Selly Oak constituency this Saturday about challenges they are facing with rising energy bills and Ed Miliband’s plans to freeze energy bills until 2017.

A cross party group of MPs have called for a 'fair share' of BBC investment in the Midlands at a breakfast meeting with executives from the corporation today. Delivering a petition from the Campaign for Regional Broadcasting, that has gathered over 4000 signatures of support, the MP's pressed the BBC to increase network TV and radio production in the region.


The Planning Committee deferred the application for outline planning permission on 5th September 2013 and it is due back at committee on Thursday 17 October.
